How many different ways are there for an admissions officer to select a group of 6 college candidates from a group of 15 applicants for an interview?
-----------------------------
Here you are asked to count the number of groups, not the number of arrangements.
-----------------------
Example:
a,b,c can be arranged in 3*2*1 = 6 ways
---
But there is only one group: {a,b,c}
==========================================
Your Problem:
Ans: 15C6 =15!/[(15-6)!*6!] = [15*14*13*12*11*10*9*8*7]/[1*2*3*4*5*6]
= 5005

We aren't positioning them in any certain order, we're just choosing
them, so it's

"15 Choose 6"
