Answer by checkley75(3666) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
24^2+X^2=(36-X)^2
576+X^2=1296-72X+X^2
X^2-X^2+72X=1296-576
72X=720
X=720/72
X=10 METERS UP FROM THE BASE IS WHERE THE CRACK IS.
PROOF:
24^2+10^2=(36-10)^2
576+100=26^2
676=676
