Question 161400: Building a hexagon shaped patio with six equal sides.The ciritical measurement is from the vertex of one angle across the hexagon to the opposite vertex.The measurement is 15 feet. What will be the area of the patio in sqaure feet?
I figured out there will be 6 triangles and I have to use the pythorean theory to find the measurements of all six triangles. One measurement must be 7.5 ft. beacause that is half of 15 ft. After I find the height of the triangles I know I would use the A=1/2 bh formula to find area. I am not sure how to put it all together.

you are right __ it is 6 equilateral triangles with side length 7.5

the altitude of an equilateral triangle is [side*sqrt(3)]/2

so the area is 6{7.5[7.5 * sqrt(3)]/4}
