The length of a rectangle is 5 less than three times the width. If the perimeter is 150 inches,what are the dimensions of the rectangle?
---------------
Perimeter = 2(length + width)
Let the width be "x" inches.
Then length = "3x-5"
------------------------
EQUATION:
P = 2(3x-5 + x) = 150 inches
4x-5 = 75
4x = 80
x = 20 inches (width)
3x-5 = 55 inches (length)
