Question 14789: Can you please help me with this question.
Suppose you need to measure exactly 1 cup of water. All that you have in your kitchen are two containers. The smaller container holds 3 cups and the larger holds 5 cups. How can you use these two containers to measure exactly 1 cup of water. (You cannot estimate fractions of a container.)

Her's how you would do this: Start with both containers empty.
1) Fill the three-cup container and pour it all into the five-cup container.
2) Fill the three-cup container again and pour it into the five-cup container until the five-cup container is full.
3) You will now have one cup of water in the three-cup container.
