In the triangle with the 23 degree angle, the second angle measure is 2x, so the measure of the third angle is 180 - (2x+23) = 157-2x.

The exterior angle at that third vertex, with measure 2o, is 23+2x, so o is x+11.5.

Then in the triangle with a as one angle, the measures of the other two angles are x and (157-2x)+(x+11.5).

(x) + (157-2x) + (x+11.5) = 168.5, so a is 180-168.5 = 11.5

ANSWER: 11.5 degrees
