Question 1181966: Find the dimensions of a rectangle whose width is (4x - 3), length is (3x + 2), and the area is 99 square centimeters.
width = ?? centimeters
length = ?? centimeters
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Area of rectangle = L * W
Area = (3x+2)(4x-3)=99
3x*4x +3x*-3 +2*4x -6=99
12x^2 -9x +8x -6 =99
12x^2 -x -105=0
Find the roots
The positive root is 3
negative root is 2.92 (ignore)
plug x=3
Length = (3x+2) = 11 cm
width = (4x-3) = 9 cm
