Question 1099264: The side of a square is equal of the longer side of a rectangle. The shorter side of the rectangle is 2 cm and the longer side is 50% longer than the short one. With how many percentages have to increase the side of a square so that its surface becomes 81 cm2?

2+2(0.5) = 3 this is the long side of the triangle and also the sides of the square.
(3+x)*(3+x) = 81
(3+x)^2 = 81
3+x = 9
x = 6 so you have to add 6 to each side of the square. In percent:
6/3 = 2; 2*100 = 200
you have to increase the side of the square by 200%

That means the given square is dimensions 3 and 3; and given rectangle is dimensions 3 and 2.
Let the amount of increase be x, for the change to side length of the square.
