Question 10953: The length of a rectangular building lot is twice its width. If the perimeter is 240 meters what are the dimensions of this building lot?
Answer by askmemath(368)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let width =W
Then length = 2W (since it's twice the width)
Perimeter = 2(length+width) = 240
2(2W+W)= 240
2(3W)=240
6W=240
Dividing by 6 throughout
W = 40
Length = 2W = 2x40 = 80
