Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The long way:
5y-28=3y+12, since they are congruent.
2y=40
y=20 degrees
check that 72=72
=================
4x-12+5y-28=180, since same side angles are supplementary. I could use 3y+12, because that is equal
substitute 100 for 5y
4x+100-40=180
4x=120
x=30 degrees
4x-12=108 degrees
108+72=180 degrees.
=================
The short way: Opposite angles are congruent, so 4x-12=108 and that can give x directly.
