Box A has a square base 4 feet in length and 4 feet in width.
Box B has a square base 6 feet in length and 6 feet in width.

I don't think you have posted the problem the way you intended. As it is, you say each box uses 96 square feet of plywood; and then you ask for the total area of the two boxes.
Well... 96 square feet each means 2*96=192 for the area of the two boxes together.
So re-post the problem stating it correctly....
