Two choices. Which ends have the triangles? Along the 45 foot sides, or along the 100 foot sides?

If the 100 foot sides are capped with the triangles, then each triangle leg y gives you ;

total area would be

9500

A parking lot has the shape of a rectangle with two isosceles right triangles (one on each end). What is the area of the parking lot if the rectangle's dimensions are 45 ft by 100ft?
It depends!
If the LONGER side of the rectangle forms one of the congruent sides of the 2 congruent right triangles, then area is 14,500 sq ft.
If the SHORTER side of the rectangle forms one of the congruent sides of the 2 right triangles, then area is 6,525 sq ft.
Furthermore, depending on how the 2 congruent right triangles are positioned on the rectangle's ends, either a TRAPEZOID or a PARALLELOGRAM could be formed.
Regardless though, the area can either be 14,500 sq ft or 6,525 sq ft, as mentioned above. Specificity is required if just 1 answer is needed.
