erin is buying floor tile to put in a room 10ft. x 15ft. she has chosen tiles that are 18in. by 18in. how many tiles will she need?
---------
10' by 15' = 120" by 180"
60 of the 18 by 18 tiles can cover 108" by 180"
---
Then a gap of 12" by 180" is left.
If the tiles are cut to 12" by 18" you get 2 pieces, one 12 by 18 & one 6 by 18.
--> 2 tiles fill 3 spaces
10 spaces are to be filled --> 6 entire tiles & 1 tile with some scrap.
===========
Total = 67 tiles
==============================
If the tiles have a pattern, using 2 cut pieces might not work --> 70 tiles.
