Question 1061533: You have an 84-inch long slide to attach to a playground. If the height of the tower where you attach the top of a slide is 80 inches, how many inches away from the base of the tower should you dig a hole to anchor the bottom of the slide?
Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let n be the distance between the base of the tower to the bottom of the slide. Then:
80²+n²=84²
n²=7056-6400=656
n=+/-√656=+/-25.6125, or 25.6125 inches away from the base of the tower. ☺☺☺☺
