Question 1047135: A rowing team rode 16 miles while going with the current in the same amount of time as it took to row 30 miles going against the current. The rate of the current was 3 mph. Find the rate of the rowing team in still water
Answer by jorel555(1290) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let's say they rowed 30 miles WITH the current in the same time it took them to row 16 miles AGAINST the current. Then:
30/(x+3)=16/(x-3)
16x+48=30x-90
14x=138
x=9.857 as the speed of the team in still water. ☺☺☺☺
