A. Determine the dimensions of the field?    

   L + W =  = 250.   (1)
   L*W   = 15400.         (2)

   Express L = 250 - W from (1) and substitute into (2). You will get

   (250-W)*W = 15400.

   Simplify and solve this quadratic equation.

   W =  = .

   We select lesser of the two roots W = 110, leaving the greater root for L = 140.

   Answer. The dimensions are 140 m and 110 m.
