A cuboid has a total surface area of 67mē and its lateral surface area is 53mē. Find its area base.
:
let a = the length of the cuboid
let b = the width
let c = the height
then
the surface area:
2ab + 2bc + 2ac = 67
and
the lateral surface area
2ac + 2bc = 53
:
The top & bottom area (2ab) is the total surface area - the lateral surface area
67 - 53 = 14 sq/m
the base area would be half of that: 7 sq/m
