Answer by macston(5194)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
x=first salesperson's check; x-0.15x=0.85x= second salesperson's check
x+0.85x=$1125
1.85x=$1125
x=$608.11
ANSWER: The first salesperson's check was $608.11
.
Second salesperson's check=0.85x=(0.85)($608.11)=$516.89
ANSWER: The second salesperson's check was $516.89
.
CHECK:
Sum of checks=$1125
$608.11+%516.89=$1125
$1125=$1125
