=======================
$15000 at 5.5% --> $825, more than $635.
Putting part of the money in 7% interest will increase the interest income.
It's not possible to get $635.

Answer by josmiceli(19441)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let = the amount to invest
in the 5.5% interest account
= amount invested
in the 7% interest account
--------------------------------
I can now say:

Something is wrong -this is more than the original
$15,000 that was invested.
Suppose $15,000 was all invested at the lower rate:
5.5%

So, there is absolutely no way you can make less than
$825 with these two investments -you can't make $635
------------
Are you sure you copied this correctly?
I don't think it can be done
