total distance of 290 miles.
average 50 miles per hour for part of the trip...........x miles
45 miles per hour for the rest of the time ..............290-x
time for first part + time for second part = 6
t=d/r
x/50 + (290-x)/45 = 6
LCM = 50*45
45*x -50(190-x) = 6*50*45
45x-50*190+50x=6*50*45
90x= 6*50*45+(50*90)
solve
x=200 miles ...... first part
90 miles second part
200/50 = 4 hours first part
90/45 = 2
