Question 88219: For a school play, 739 tickets valued at $857 were sold. Some cost $1.00 and others cost $1.50. How many $1.00 tickets were sold?
Answer by rossiv53(27) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Lets assign a variable to one of the values.
x = amount of $1 tickets sold
Since the total amount of tickets sold was 739,
(739-x) = represents the amount of $1.50 tickets sold
Your equation
Simplify the left side
Subtract 1189.50 from both sides
Divide both sides by -.50
So, 665 $1 tickets were sold
Good luck
