Question 843408: jessies juice bar prices its bottled juices by raising the wholesale price 50% and then adding 25 cents. what is the wholesale price of a bottle of juice that sells for $2.95?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1x + .5x + 25 = 295. Find x
1.5x + 25 = 295
Subtract 25 from each side
1.5x = 270
Divide each side by 1.5
x = 180
.
Let's prove it.
If the wholesale price is $1.80, the retail is $1.80 + .90 (50% of $1.80) + .25
$1.80 + .90 + .25 does indeed equal $2.95
Success!
