Hi, there--

THE PROBLEM:
Daniel won the lottery which was $10,000. 40% of this he have to his church. How much did he keep?

A SOLUTION:
If Daniel gave 40% to his church, then we kept 100% - 40% = 60% of the winnings.

To find 60% of $10,000:

1. Convert 60% to its decimal form. Per cent means "out of one hundred: 60 out of 100 is 0.60.

2. Multiply 0.60 * 10000 = 6000

3. Daniel kept $6,000 for himself.

Hope this helps! Feel free to email if you have any questions about the solution.

Good luck with your math,
