The middle school dance team had 3 separate car washes on Saturday to raise money for new uniforms.
The Main Street location raised $50 more than the Back Street location.
The Washington Street location raised $50 more than half the amount raised at the Back Street location.
How much did the dance team raise at each location
if they raised a total of $600?
------------------------------------
ms = bs + 50
ws = (1/2)bs + 50
ms + bs + ws = 600
-----------------------------
In place of ms put (bs+50)
In place of ws put (1/2)bs+50
--------
(bs+50) + ((1/2)bs+50) + bs = 600
---------
Solve for "bs"::::
bs + (1/2)bs + bs + 50 + 50 = 600
--------
(5/2)bs + 100 = 600
(5/2)bs = 500
bs = $200 (amt. raised by Back Street location)
-----
ms = bs+50 = 200+50 = $250 (amt raised by Main Street location)
------
ws = (1/2)bs+50 = 100 + 50 = $150 (amt raised by Washington Street)
------------------------------
