x + y = 510...1
1.25x + 2.25y = $824.50...2
Multiply (10 by 2.25
2.25x + 2.25y = 1147.50...3
1.25x + 2.25y = 824.50...2
Subtract (2) from (3)
x = 323
Substitute x = 323 into (1)
x + y = 510
323 + y = 510
y = 510 - 323
y = 187
Women bought 323 adult beverages
Men bought 187 adult beverages.
