Mandy bought 5 shirts and 3 ties at the men's world department store for P 2500.00. Norman bought 3 shirts and 5 ties for P 1900.00. What is the prize of a shirt? the prize of one tie?

Simultaneous Equations:
5x + 3y = 2500...1
3x + 5y = 1900...2
Multiply (1) by 3
Multiply (2) by 5
15x + 9y = 7500...3
15x + 25y = 9500...4
Subtract (3) from (4)
16y = 2000
y = 125
Substitute y = 125 into (1)
5x + 375 = 2500
5x = 2500 - 375
5x = 2125
x = 425
Therefore a shirt costs P 425.00
a tie costs P 125.00
