Question 749008: I am having trouble with this word problem.
Ace Construction Company rents a bulldozer for $100.00 per day plus $50.00 per hour it is in use. If the bulldozer rental bill on April was $480.00, how many hours was the bulldozer used.
I worked it out as x+y=480 x=per hour y=per day and y=50x-$100 but I keep getting a decimal and it dont add up

100+50x=480
5x=480-100
50x=380
x=380/50
x=7.6 hours of use IF the rental was for only 1 day.
