Let the amount of $9 coffee be: x
Then the rest of the 100 lb mixture is the amount of $12 coffee: 100-x
The problem to solve:
9x+12(100-x)=11.25(100)
9x+1200-12x=1125
-3x+1200=1125
-3x+1200-1200=1125-1200
-3x=-75
-3x/-3=-75/-3
x=25
The amount of $9 coffee: x=25 lb
The amount of $12 coffee: 100-x=100-25=75 lb.
