Question 669700: At a high school football game, a total of 670 tickets were sold. Admission charges were $2.50 for each student and $5 for anyone else. The total receipts at the gate were $2,225. How many students attend the game? I know to let s= number of students tickets and let n= number of non student tickets. But I am not sure if that is right and not sure how to set it up or solve. Please help!
Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
s + n = 670
2.5s + 5n = 2225
...
substitute
2.5s + 5(670-s) = 2225
2.5s + 3350 - 5s = 2225
-2.5s = 2225 - 3350
-2.5s = -1125
s = students
