Question 59543: Please tell me if I am doing this problem correct This is what I have If the inventor charges 4 dollars per unit the profit for producing and selling x units is given by the function. What is the profit for selling 2000 units and 5000 units and what is the break even point for sales. I used p(x)=2.25x-7000 and 2.25 (50000-7000 and then I divided 7000 by 2.25 to get the break even sales Am I correct? . please show me if this is wrong. Thank you

This is what I have If the inventor charges 4 dollars per unit the profit for producing and selling x units is given by the function. What is the profit for selling 2000 units and 5000 units and what is the break even point for sales. I used p(x)=2.25x-7000 and 2.25 (50000-7000 and then I divided 7000 by 2.25 to get the break even sales.
-----------------
p(x)=2.25x-7000
P(2000)=2.25(2000)-7000
P(2000)=4500-7000
P(2000)= -$2500
That's a negative profit. hmmmmm???
----------------
P(5000)=2.25(5000)-7000
P(5000)=11250-7000
P(5000)=$4250
That's better; that's a positive profit.
---------------
Break-even point probably means zero profit.
2.25x-7000=0
2.25x=7000
x=3111.11
