Nikki paid Dalton $15.50 for a combination of 15 baseball and football cards. The baseball cards were $1.50 each, and the football cards were $0.50 each. How much did Nikki spend on the baseball cards?
----------
Let number of football cards be "x"
Value of those cards is 0.50x.
Number of baseball cards is "15-x"
Value of those cards is 1.50(15-x)= 22.5-1.5x
EQUATION:
value + value = 15.50
0.50x+22.5-1.5x=15.50
-x=-7
x=7 (# of football cards)
15-x=8 (# of baseball cards)
