Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
adults x
child y 0
8.5 x + 5.5 y = 2662.5 .............1
1 x + 1 y = 375 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by 1
Multiply (2) by -5.5
8.5 x 5.5 y = 2662.5
-5.5 x -5.5 y = -2062.5
Add the two equations
3 x = 600
/ 3
x = 200
plug value of x in (1)
8.5 x + 5.5 y = 2662.5
1700 + 5.5 y = 2662.5
5.5 y = 2662.5 -1700
5.5 y = 962.5
y = 175
adults 200
child 175
