Question 499693: A worker's take-home pay is $376, after deductions totaling 60% of the gross pay have been subtracted. What is the gross pay?
Answer by Maths68(1474)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let gross pay = x
60% of x = x * 60/100
60% of x = x * 3/5
60% of x = 3x/5
Gross pay = Deduction + 376
x=3x/5 + 376
Multiply by 5 both sides of above equation
5x=3x + 1880
5x-3x=1880
2x=1880
Divide by 2 both sides of the above equation
2x/2=1880/2
x=940
Gross pay = 940$
