matthew has two different stocks.
one of the stocks is worth $4 more per share than the other.
Let price of cheaper stock be "x".
Then price of expensive stock is "x+4"
--------------------------------------------
He has 13 shares of the more valuable stock and 27 shares of the other stock. His total assets in stocks is $1412. How much is it more expensive stock worth per share?
---
Equation:
13(x+4) + 27x = 1412
13x + 52 + 27x = 1412
40x = 1360
x = $34 (price of cheaper stock)
x+4 = $38 (price of more valuable stock)
