Then after the increase the value of the portfolio is 0.75*1.25x = 0.9375x, which is still at a loss of 6.25%.

Let x = the value of the portfolio before the drop was 100%
after the drop was 75%
Then after the increase the value of the portfolio is 0.75%2A1.25x+=+0.9375x=93.75x,
100-93.75=6.25%
which is still at a loss of 6.25%.
