Question 389626: "A salesman earns 5% commission on his total sales and a flat rate of $15 an hour. If he earned $1250 in one 30-hour work week, what were his total sales that week? Show work to support your answer."
I tried doing 30*15 to get the amount he made per hour, but only got the answer $450, and that didn't look right to me somehow. It could be but I don't know.
I also tried learning how to do percentages but it didn't help with this problem.
I just don't understand how to get the total amount of sales from that information and need your help.
