Hi,

Let x represent the larger number.  Then (x-7) would be the smaller

Write as we Read***

2(x-7) = x+3

solving for x

2x - 14 = x + 3

x = 17, the larger number.  Smaller number is 10.   (17-7)

2*10 = 17+3 = 20
