Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Length = 2x-6
Width = x
Formula 2(L+W)=P
2(x+2x-6)=96
6x-12=96
6x=108 Divide both sides by 6 to get
x= 18
Length = 2(18)-6=30
Hence, the width of the rectangle is 18cm and the length is 30cm.

Let the width be "w".
Then length = 2w-6
Perimeter = 2l + 2w = 96
l + w = 48
(2w-6) + w = 48
3w = 54
w = 18 (this is the width)
l=2w-6= 30 (this is the length)
