If the population of a country is 25000 and it increases by 10% each year. After how many years will the original population be doubled?
:
Let t = time in years, use the decimal equiv of 10%
:
25000*(1.10)^t = 50000
:
1.1^t =
1.1^t = 2
Using logs
t*log(1.1) = log(2)
.04139t = .301
t =
t = 7.2725 yrs
;
:
See if that is true, check on a calc, enter: 25000*(1.1)^7.2725 ~ 50000
