Herman invested $9,000.00 in mutual funds and bonds. The mutual fund earned 11% simple interest. The bonds earned 6% simple interest. At the end of one year, he had earned $815.00 in interest. How much had he invested at each rate?

.11x+540-.06x=815
.05x=275
x=$5500 at 11%
9000-x=$3500 at 6%
