Write an algebraic equation:
:
1.The perimeter of a rectangle is x yards and t feet. What is the perimeter in inches?
:
We know there are 36" in a yard and 12" in a foot
Therefore:
P(inches) = 36x + 12t
:
:
2.The width of a rectangle is w feet,
W = the width
:
its length is 7 feet more than five times its width.
L = 5W + 7
;
What is the perimeter of the rectangle in feet?
P = 2L + 2W
Replace L with (5W+7)
P = 2(5W+7) + 2W
P = 10W + 14 + 2W
P = 12W + 14
