462.24-432.00=$30.24 tax
When you divide by 107% it gives the price of the goods purchased.
Then subtract the two amounts for the tax paid.

Let x = the amount before taxes.
Simplify the left side.
Divide both sides by 1.07

The cost before the tax is $432.00
The sales tax is 7% of $432.00 = 0.07($432) = $30.24
Check:
