Question 199558: If mr monroe wants to make 1000 dollars a month by seliing trays and pots of flower and the following information is given, calculate how much must each tray and pot be sold for?
Trays of flower sold per month- 20
pots of flower sold per month-25
EACH TRAY COSTS 2 DOLLARS MORE THAN A POT
Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"EACH TRAY COSTS 2 DOLLARS MORE THAN A POT" means, I assume, that he charges $2 more for a tray.
Let the cost of a pot=p
25p+20(p+2)=1000
25p+20p+40=1000
45p=960
p=$21 1/3
tray should be sold for $23 1/3
If you use .33 instead of 1/3 you will have $999.85 which is less than $1000.
If you use .34 you will have $1000.30
