Every year,we return 12% of a sum of money without an intersest.
If, after 5 years, we still have 1400 $ to pay,what sum of money did i borrow??
:
Let x = amt borrowed
:
Convert 12% to decimal; .12
:
Amt borrowed - amt paid = $1400
:
x - 5(.12x) = 1400
:
1x - .6x = 1400
;
.4x = 1400
x =
x = $3500
;
:
See if that's right
3500 - 5(.12*3500) =
3500 - 5(420) =
3500 - 2100 = 1400
