Question 136376: Sally takes out two loans she borrows $800 more from the credit union than the bank. The credit union charges 12% interest, and the bank charges 15% interest. If her interest totals $420 annually, how much did she borrow from both?
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.15x+.12(x+800)=420
.15x+.12x+96=420
.27x=420-96
.27x=324
x=324/.27
x=1,200 amount borrowed from the bank.
1,200+800=2,000 amount borrowed from the credit union.
proof:
.15*1,200+.15*2000=420
180+3000=420
420=420
