Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X+Y=280
X=2Y/5
(2Y/5)+Y=280
(2Y+5Y)/5=280
7Y=5*280
7Y=1400
Y=1400/7
Y=$200 FOR THE STUDENT WITH THE MOST MONEY.
X=2*200/5=400/5=$80 FOR THE STUDENT WITH THE SMALLER AMOUNT.
