If 500 pounds of cucumbers are allowed to stand overnight, and if the partially evaporated
substance that remains in the morning is 98% water, how much is the morning weight?

If 500 pounds of cucumbers are 99% water by weight, it means that the weight of the dry fiber
is 1% by weight, or 5 pounds.


After partial water evaporate, the weight of the dry fiber remains the same (with no change).



Therefore, if after partial water evaporate the cucumbers are 98% water by weight, it means that

     =  = 0.02.



It implies

    total weight of cucumbers after drying =  =  = 250 pounds.    ANSWER
