this month?

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20065)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I take it you are in first grade.

You must add, so write this:

            $274 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------

Put a decimal and two zeros after the $274, and make it $274.00.

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------

We add the last column on the right 0+2 and get 2, and put the 2 down below the
line and under the last column like this:

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------
                  2

Then we add the next to last column 0+3 and get 3, and put the 3 down below the
line and under the next to last column like this:

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------
                 32

Next we bring down the decimal point, like this:

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------
                .32

Then we add the third column from the left, 4+4 and get 8, and put the 8 down
below the line and under the third from the left column like this:

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------
               8.32

Then we add the second column from the left, 7+2 and get 9, and put the 9 down
below the line and under the second from the left column like this:

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------
              98.32

Then we bring down the 2 below the line, like this:

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------
             298.32

Then we finish by bringing down the dollar sign, and write
"for vehicle maintenance" out to the right:

            $274.00 for tires
           + 24.32 for supplies
          ------------------------
            $298.32 for vehicle maintenance

Hope this helps, Sonny boy (or girl). Now you can go out and play. :)
