5b + 1f = 20

f equals cost of 1 order of fries.
subtract the second equation from the first to ge:
2f = 3
solve for f to get f = 1.5
replace f with 1.5 in the first equation to get:
5b + 4.5 = 23
subtract 4.5 from both sides of the equation to get:
5b = 18.5
solve for b to get:
b = 18.5 / 5 = 3.7
that's the price of one burger.

replace b with 3.7 and f with 1.5 in the second equation to get:
5b + f = 20 becomes 5 * 3.7 + 1.5 = 20 which becomes 18.5 + 1.5 = 20 which becomes 20 = 20, confirming the solution is correct.
