Your cousin and you are earning money for your family vacation. Your cousin averages $15.00 a week babysitting and receives one $5.00 bonus. How many weeks did you work?
----------------
Let the # of weeks you work be "x".
Cousin Earnings: 15x + 5
-------------------------
Your Earnings: x(10+8) = 18x
------------------------
EQUATION:
Your earnings - cousin's earnings = 7
18x -(15x+5) = 7
3x-5 = 7
3x = 12
x = 4 weeks
-------------
You and your cousin each worked 4 weeks.

Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
15W+5=(10+8)W-7
15W+5=18W-7
15W-18W=-7-5
-3W=-12
W=-12/-3
W=4 WEEKS OF WORK.
PROOF
15*4+5=18*4-7
60+5=72-7
65=65
